That is my first rifle. I have had it for nearly 38 years and the only way to clean the action is to take it off the stock in order to take the bolt out and clean it. It usually requires cleaning after 500 rounds. You'll know it when it begins to jam every four or five round. Make sure after you clean to oil it very very lightly otherwise it will gum up fairly quick.
I love that rifle for sentimental value even though it does not shoot a tight group at all.
I have this gun. Here are some pics on how to take it apart and clean it!
1st-- Remove the Tube
2nd--
3rd--
4th-- Lift out the assembly.
5th--
6th-- Clean your heart out! A lot of Q-TIPS help! A lot of little places for powder to hide! Give it a good oil and then go out and shoot it another million rounds before you have to clean it again!!
