picked up a roadkill today and managed to skin it without hitting the stinker. the only gland looking things that i saw may have been his nuts. not too sure. does anyone have a pic or link on skunk anatomy. thanks for the help

The glands are on each side of the anus. The "nuts" would have been farther up. If the gland looking things are on each side of the anus then these are the glands. The easiest way is to insert a needle and draw the essence out.

beaver22 is right about location but I usually very carefully cut em off and put em in a butter dish and freeze em till Im ready to use them to make lure. Same goes for any other animal.

Yeah, I saw a video where a guy used a razor blade to cut them out and then froze them. It would make me too nervous trying to cut them out!

Beaver22,
I have cut them out and made a mess before. I wasn't allowed in the house /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif It works great but it does have its risks. The dog went wild when it smelled that. I made a mess with fox glands my first time trying and I smelled like roses even after 4 showers. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

"how do i milk a skunk"?

Just a guess but with your thumb and index finger. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I second what beaver 22 says. I use a syringe & needle and draw the stuff otta the glands. I also recomend surgical gloves.

Just kick him and stand back with a bucket. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
