how do the older nikon monarch scopes rate

How do the guys around here like the older monarchs? Like the 5-10 year old ones? I find them to be some of the best hunting scopes around. I like the 2-7 or 3-9 variables mostly. None of mine have the adjustable exposed turrets. But they are tough and reliable. I have quite a few. And just really like the glass. But don't ever hear guys talk a word about them. Its all vortex.

True...but Nikon CS is pretty bad, until recently. They will not cover the older scopes with "no questions asked."

Yep those are the ones in talking about. I thought they have the goofy 25 year warranty or something like that?

I have an older Nikon Monarch UCC in 3-9x40 and it's been a great scope. In fact, I like it better than the Buckmasters, ProStaff 7 and Monarch 3 that I own.

I have two...the Monarch Gold is a very good scope. It holds its zero well and dusk/dawn performance is extremely good. I can say that you would have to go with something European to beat it in low light. I have A Zeiss Diavari and it will not get me much more time than the Monarch Gold when the light is fading.

I have a few UCC scope's as well. 5.5-18 I think. I had been using one on a pellet rifle for the longest time, work great! As far as Nikon not covering them under their No Fault Policy, I do not know for certain but I would expect Nikon CS to stand behind them. Hopefully I am not giving you misinformation. I sent my first scope back ever before Christmas, falling 4 feet directly onto the scope is not good for the scope! Anyway, a new one arrived in 3 weeks!
That MONARCH Gold you have msinc is a rare scope, built with the best Nikon had to offer at that time. The new MONARCH 7 is very similar but with even better glass.

++++1 on that!!!!

We had a coyote/wolf contest a few years ago that Nikon was one of the sponsor's. At least until the anti's got involved and started protesting. Next thing you know Nikon pulled their sponsorship and all the items they donated to the contest. I guess bird watchers and tree huggers must spend more money on optics and cameras than hunters do!!!

At a Nikon headquarters meeting. "OK all why aren't rifle scopes selling...I want answeres!"
Hey boss that's because you ran away from some left wing anti hunters so we lost that customer base you idiot!
