How does FFL work?

Do I contact the FFL holder and tell him the gun I want and all I do is pay his transfer fee (usually ~$20), plus the cost of the gun? For example, lets say I can get a rifle for 350 at a wholesaler, like Zanders. Would I ask the guy with the FFL to buy it for me and he would add the $20 transfer fee + sales tax, and that's the total for the gun?

A lot of it depends on the FFL. Some FFL's will want you to pay Zanders and then they send it to your nearest FFL, which they only charge you there transfer fee ($20-$50). Otheres may do what you described, but I doubt that the majority will go through that much work and take the chance that when they get it that you will for surely take it.

Hope this helps.

Depends on whether or not your FFL sells that gun. If he does, he won't like you trying to undercut him by going through Zanders (what's that anyway?). I'd recommend talking to your FFL about it.

I have an FFL and Zanders is one of my wholesalers, they sale only to FFL dealers, I copied this from their home page. (ZANDERS SPORTING GOODS is a wholesale firearms distributor selling only to federally licensed dealers. We invite you to browse our website and encourage you to email us at sales@gzanders.com to find a dealer near you.) Sorry for the bad news.

May the force be with you. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif Around my house it's easier to buy first /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif and then /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif put the earplugs in. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif They get over it in a week or so.
