How hard is it to fit an AR upper and lower together?

I was looking at the RRA Varmint and with the 16" bull, they want a grand. I priced the complete upper and lower, and it came out to +/-$850. If buying the matched upper and lower is cheaper, whats involved in joining the two that would make the price that much higher?
 
RR is right, if it's a complete rifle you have to pay the excise tax on the whole amount. 11% is a lot easier to swallow on a hundred bucks than on a thousand. Piece of cake putting them together, unless you have a big hole colt to deal with-but even then it isn't tough- just inconvenient.

It's common to see a lower and upper purchased seperately costing less than an upper and lower purchased together.
