From what I can gather, the size of a coyotes' territory is based a lot on the quantity of prey animals the coyote likes to dine on. I think up in some areas of Canada where small prey animals are abundant coyote territories are only several miles square. In areas like North Dakota, coyote territories might be as large as 4 to 6 miles by 4 to 6 miles.
Your idea that a coyote might be in a certain field only one day a week has possibilities, depending upon the size of their territory. Here in North Dakota you could be 6 miles away from where that coyote is laying up for the day.
On another note, it sure doesn't take a coyote very long to cover 3/4 of a mile or more when they make up their mind they are going to get to your calling!!!
I think you could do some research on the Internet and find more difinitive answers about the size of coyote territories in various parts of the North American continent. I'd do it, but it is after midnight and I'm tired now. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-006.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-006.gif
