how long and often do coyotes sleep?

It depends on the time of year and food supply. Coyotes also have times they are active and times they are not active during the 24 hour day.

If food supply is good and they have lots to eat, they sleep and lay up more. If food supply is low, or they need more food to stay warm, or feed pups, they lay up less, and are more active.

In hot months, since they can't sweat, they shade up more in daytime hours, and are more active in nighttime, cooler hours.

I have seen in cool weather times, when the food supply is about normal, and competition for food is normal, they have somewhere around a 4 hour cycle where they are active and laying up alternating.

This is subjective to your geographical area and coyote population, as well as the food sources available.

Breeding season tends to make them more active too.

Clear as mud, right?
