How to anchor my carry handle scope mount

I'm not sure which brand I have but I have this carry handle scope mount on my Colt. I don't shoot the gun much but was target shooting today when I noticed a little play in the scope. Not a good thing! The knurled handle underneath seemed tight but I put a pair of pliers on it and tightened it down a bit more. This eliminated the play.

Is there a preferred way to seat these things to ensure they get a firm installation? I worry it could work loose again. Loctite? Anything to help bed it in the handle? I wish this thing had 2 tightening screws.

That's one of the downsides to that kind of mount.. My only suggestion is to hand fit, with a file, the mounting bar into your carry handle... some of the aftermarket ones don't allow it to seat into the carry handle groove for a solid fit and it will start to loosen after a few rounds..You can file it down carefully for a good fit..

The only one I ever used that fit well was the one than came with my 4x Colt scope with my SP-1 model Colt.. If the rifle had shot well with factory ammo, I would probably still own it..but that was 20 years ago and .223 quality factory ammo was kind of rare at that time..

My newest rifle is a DPMS in .308 and I bought an adapter like what you have there...I ended up putting some loc-tite 222MS on it and inserted a allen(hex) wrench into one of the holes on the knurled part to tighten it. (I didn`t have a little spanner wrench and plier marks would be a sin to me haha). Anyway I have not been back out yet.Main reason I wanted a scope was for load developement anyhow. BTW...I see another rifle in your future...it will have a flat top..oh and a different gas block thats flat also...
