How To Sell Pelts

Hi,

I am new here so please forgive me if this has already been asked.

I love to hunt and I really want to get serious about hunting yotes. I am not a wasteful person and don't want to just leave an animal just to rot. How does a person sell a pelt once skinned. I live in Idaho. If you have any ideas, please let me know.

Welcome to Predator Masters!

I would contact the Idaho Trappers Association http://www.idahotrappers.org/
and talk with those guys to see who is buying fur in your area. They can also help you with info on how the buyers in your area like the fur put up. Also ask the buyer how they want it put up, this way you maximize your return.

Good Luck!

As for how much they are going for, check in Fur-Fish-Game. There is a colmun about the current prices broken down by general area. You are in an area where the prices are usually good.

You can also go to North American Fur Auctions, (NAFA) or Fur Harvesters and see their auction reports. Just remember they are selling fur that has been worked up not green. Fur Harvesters puts out a free booklet on working up fur.

Groenewold out of IL has the best coyote, fox prices I have seen over the last 20 yrs. You can send them after stretching and drying the pelts. They will call you with a price, if you aren't happy they will send them back to you. If you have a real pale, long fur coyote you can send it to an auction in Canada, there you could recieve 50-100% more for a real good one.T.20
