A dirt hole set is a set with a hole dug at a more or less 45 degree angle around 3”
wide and around 4 to 6” deep. A trap is set in front of the hole. A 1.5 to 1.75 coil spring trap works well for fox. Stake the trap down and cover the trap up with loose dirt. Place a lure or bait in the hole. A small piece of deer meat will work and sprinkle a little red fox urine above the hole. The traps need to be scent free. I like to get new traps adjust the trigger to go off all at once. Preferably no movement of the trigger before the trap goes off. To clean traps, boil new traps and stakes in baking soda and water. Let traps rust and then boil them in walnut hulls or I prefer crystal logwood. After boiling, don’t touch them with your bare hands, only with a good pair of clean rubber gloves. Edgebyexpedite.com is now manufacturing and marketing my products, if there is enough interest I may change my website to an information page for new trappers and predator hunters, with step by step info and pictures.
