How well would a illuminated green dot work at night?

First off, I just typed this whole question in and when I went to post the questions I got a "website not available" notice. I just hope I don't double post.

I have a friend that went to texas to hunt at night with a trijicon reflex site with an amber dot and found it worthless under red lights. The red lights simply washed out the reticle. I'm thinking about getting a green illuminated dot leupold vx-r in 1-4 zombie model. IMHO this zombie marketing is crazy. The closest I've been to playing nazi zombies is sitting next to my grandson while he plays. With that said, the Leupold Zombie scope looks like it would be both a good day and night hunting scope. It is the only scope Leupold offers with a green dot. All others use the traditional red dot. If anyone has any serious input about this scope or any of the Leupold VX-R scopes, you input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I have a cheap reflex sight and don't like the green for night hunting, too bright. Though I'm stuck using it for the time being because the red quit working. On a scope it may not be so bad, but on my sight it tends to drown out the eyes.

Question jrcampbell: do you hunting at night with red lights using a red dot? I guess you would have to have the red dot set to a higber setting than the background for this to work.

I just tried one today at Sportsman and it has 8 different settings from dim to a very bright setting that works in day light.

I run an Eotech at night and yes, the reticle has to be set brighter to show up. My son has a Bushnell red/green dot on his and I like the green at night better. His sight has 5 adjustments on both the red and green. The green just stands out better.
