Well i ended up with a howa .243 s.s./hogue stock in a trade. This is my first howa and at the moment it's scattered all over the work bench just cuz i wanted to see how it was made.
The one thing i noticed right off is that it's not free floated and the barrel is rubbing in a couple of places.
My question is to those who have this rifle is, have you had to free float the stock or is it good to go as is?
I'm going to start with just putting it back together and trying it as i got it for now just to see what the accuracy is this way and float it if need be. Thanks

Well it is hunting accurate just as is.I did free float it after getting back home and it did make a small difference. No i'm not disappointed at all.

I got a chance to try it at 425yds and the two shots appear to be within inchs of each other, i won't be able to check for sure until the river goes down this spring. Either way it certainly has moa of coyote at that distance. Thanks guys

I bought one in '02 as a package gun. it's a 243 also. First thing I did after messing around
with the trigger endlessly, was replace it with a Timney. I also replaced the junk scope with a Sightron. And just last year after putting up with the wobbley Tupperware stock, I swapped it out for a Houge aluminum bedded one.

She is sweet now, and a tackdriver too.
It shoots 55gr.Blitzkings, 70gr. BT's, 85gr.hpbt and 100gr. spbt all very well. Have dropped countless deer with 243 and the 100gr. Sierra's

You will like your Howa. Smoooooth action!!
