So how do the Howa 1500 22/250s shoot? Anyone have experiance with them? I see they advertise a 12" twist. Just wondering how they have been performing. Thanks!

I have a very good friend with one. It's a great rifle. Shoots very well. He has the heavy barrel with (originally) the pepper laminate stock. He swapped that stock for a Axiom stock, just for personal preference.

The triggers are pretty nice, easily adjustable, but I haven't played with their newer 2 stage ones.

All-in-all, I think they are a very good, and often times overlooked, value in firearms. I am looking at bolt rifles for my wife. Howa is high on that list.

I have a Howa 1500 .22-250 Rem., in a stainless heavy barrel
version. I have it in a B&C Medalist Varmint stock. It shoots
50 gr. VMax bullets easily into sub-MOA groups. Excellent
colony varmint gun, as it is a bit heavy for a stalk and walk
gun. And the factory trigger adjusted down to a bit over 1 lb,
with minimal travel. The only kick I have against Howa is the
bolt doesn't lock in the "safe" condition. I think a newer
three position safety has fixed that.

I have one in 22-250 that I put a laminate thumbhole on and it may shoot better than my accurized 700 that sits in an HS. Dollar for dollar it is by far the most accurate rifle I own.

I bought a Howa Thumbhole Varminter in a 204 about 8 years ago. I've loved that rifle ever since. Not an expensive gun and its always shot accurate, its dropped several Coyotes and it is really a nice looking rifle too. You wouldn't be disappointed!
