Howa Hunter Walnut rifle and Nikko Stirling Scopes?

Does anyone have any experience with these Howa's? Are they accurate? Reliable?

Also how are there Nikko Stirling scopes that come with there guns?

They look like they are well made guns for a nice price! and the 1 I have held seems to have a very smooth action.

Howa's are very nice, and often times, under rated rifles. They're made in Japan, with good materials and workmanship.

They have a new trigger, that I haven't tried. It's adjustable, so it should be workable. Timney has aftermarket support for them, as well.

The stock should be serviceable. I'm unsure if it has action pillars or not. But pillars and a bedding job would certainly lend to more consistency.

The Nikko Sterling scopes will work, but they're not my first choice. But they're not all that bad. They are big and bulky. But if you're looking to replace it , the budget level scopes (Bushnell Banner, etc) will not really be "better". Look at the new Nikon ProStaff scopes as a possible replacement.

What chambering are you looking at? Best of luck.

Love my howa but loose the scope as soon as you get it. I think even a Simmons would be better than that POS. but the rifle shoots lights out!

Thanks guys, I am pretty much set on the 25-06. I think that a good coyote/deer gun ( can't use it for deer here in Iowa, but I plan on going out of state for whitetail and muleys in the near future ).

Don't over look the 243 as a great dual purpose as well. I just 'prefer' short action cartridges. Good luck on your purchase.

The bull contours are certainly heavy. The Sporters are rather nice and handle well, IME.

I have 2 of them and am more than pleased with their accuracy. One of them came with the Nikko scope, and I sold it before ever shooting with it. I just didn't care for the optics or feel of the turrets.

My howa would rust in a bucket of oil and the trigger was awful. But otherwise a nice gun. Sold it and bought a Savage.

Thank you all for your replies to my post. I went ahead a bought a Howa with the walnut stock in 25-06, it will be hear sometime next week. Thanks again!
