With your coyote being hung up that far away, my best guess is that the coyote was standing on his side of the territory boundary line. It is pretty common for them to stand on their own side of the street and cuss you out like that. Use of the higher pitched howls does seem to make sense. Maybe causes resident coyotes to believe that the stranger they hear over there is smaller than he is. Only the coyotes know for sure though.  /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
