kytimberman,

I am not a big believer in the old coyote language theory, and there is too much false information being thrown around out there. There are a couple or three coyote vocalizations that I THINK I know when I hear them, but only the coyotes know for certain.  /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif  A lone howl is just one coyote howling, rather than two or more coyotes howling. A lonesome howl is a coyote howl that just plain sounds lonely. A lonesome sounding howl does not sound agressive to other coyotes, and resident coyotes will often approach the sound of a strange coyote in the area. I use the lonesome howl on almost every stand.

A bark/threat howl and a warning howl is same thing the way I see it. This sound is used by coyotes to warn strangers to get the heck out of here or get your butt kicked. I use this sound a lot in summer calling as well as calling during mating season. Most of the time I just use lonesome sounding howls unless I get a vocal answer. If a coyote answers my opening howls, I try to imitate what he just said. If you would like me to send you a few sample howls, just E mail me at cronkcalls@aol.com and I will E mail you a couple.  /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
