I'm just wondering how everybody's squirrel hunting going so far this season, like how many you've been seeing, how many you've killed, etc.etc. I personally have only killed 4 haven't been seeing a lot here though.
Time constraints kept me from hunting as much this year so count is down considerably. Probably sitting at around 50. I'm really hoping to get out at least a time or two before season closes the end of the month. Temps may have to moderate a bit though. Calling for -20 here tonight.
1422 Anschutz.. It's a little heavy but a real sweetheart to shoot. Way more accurate than I can hold it. Only got to -15 but wind's blowing about 20. I don't think the squirrels will venture far and I probably won't either. Calling for some moderation end of week. No matter the temps - first sunshine and light wind - they'll be out like gang-busters.

It got down to 1 today its 2 right now with wind blowing 20+ all day. Also its a real beautiful gun and same here, when this snow clears squirrels will be out so heavy I'm gonna need another set of hands to count them.
Actually, up here in Indiana, I've had a pretty good season. Where I hunt, it's mostly fox squirrels, only shot 2 grays this year. I've shot between 35-40 so far. Our season runs til Jan. 31st. Hope to get out 3-4 more times, in the next 3 weeks. Been having fun with my single shot, scoped sportster, and a peep sighted 10/22 with a fiber optic front sight.
44 right now. However, after duck season closes, I am going to get after them. Most hunting has been 30-45 minutes after work in the afternoon. Mornings are much better for me this time of year.
Nothing better than squirrel stew when it is cold outside.
Haven't had much time to get out and do much hunting this season. However I did see a ton of squirrels during deer season. Counted 11 different squirrels one day while sitting in the stand.
My daughter and I went out yesterday afternoon. Wendy day but stuck with it and got 4 greys. I had a new RAR 22 mag I wanted to try out, it did just as I expected. My daughter hunts with her grandads old Squires Bingham Mod 20. Lot of fun.
Had a real good year here. Ate squirrel mulligan for supper tonite actually. Got a little rescue dog last year that has just turned into a squirrel treeing machine. He runs loose here on the farm and I can't go outside without him running over the hill and treeing. Can't always go to him but when I do he usually has the meat!
