Not sure if this is the right place to post this. If not please move. I'm new to predator hunting and want to head out soon. I just bought my rifle and want to know where I can hunt in or around Tucson, AZ. I know you can't hunt on private property without permission from owner. So what kind of land can I hunt on?

Is US Forest, BLM, and State trust land all ok to hunt on?

I'm also new to predator hunting, so don't know much only went out twice and didn't see anything. But I did get one of those big red atlas/gazette books that seems to help me out. Good luck

If you have a valid hunting license, you can hunt BLM, Forest AND State Trust as long as none of them are closed for whatever reason. State Trust will have signs posted that you need a permit. Your license IS your permit.

You will need an AZ hunting license to hunt coyotes. Where you can hunt is explained on pages 96-99 in the 2012-2013 hunting regulations. You can download the hunting regulations from this link.
http://www.azgfd.gov/regs/mainregs.pdf

The hunting seasons for predators/furbearers is on page 82. Look at the "Notes" column. The "notes" shown for the different hunting seasons are found on page 93 and that is where all of the closures are listed.

If you still need more help on where to hunt in Tucson, send me a Private Message. I'll give you some specific places to try.

I think that you are a little confused about private land. In Arizona you are allowed to hunt private land that is not posted "no trespassing" or "no hunting"or something like that.

Exactly! You can hunt private land in AZ unless it is posted "No Hunting" or if the land owner asks you to leave. Doing a little research goes a long way. Also; make sure that you have a copy of all current regulations concerning land useage, hunting seasons and lawful equipment with you at all times while hunting.(people you will encounter become very opionated sometimes and believe that they have all of the facts) I also leave a printout of A.R.S 17-304 on the dash of my truck when I am out hunting alone. Good Luck and make sure to keep at least a quarter mile between you and any occupied structure!
