You can train a dog to hunt multiple game but it all depends on how many headachs you want. I want mine to only run bear and cat. If you throw in something like coyote(non tree game) into the mix your asking for nothing but headachs IMO. You won't be able to target hunt a specific animal as easily. Some dogs prefer one game over the other and usually going from bear to cat season you will see some sort of a transition period in your dogs where it will take a few times out before your dogs will settle down from running heads up drifting a bear track to putting there nose down and pounding out a old cat track. Using dogs on multiple game I don't think they ever reach there full potential of what they are. The best dogs I have ever been around were straight on whatever type of game they were hunted on, weither it be strictly bobcat or strictly bear. If your going to run multiple game keep the tree game and non tree game in seperate categorys at least and use different dogs for those categorys.
