Hunting with decoy

Im fairly new to hunting coyotes but have been a deer and elk hunter my whole life. Just wonder what your guys set up is for yotes. Do you use decoys, hand held call, electronic calls etc. any information would be helpful, Also i was thinkin about buying a mojo critter ya or na?

I'm pretty new also and have been using a second hand e-caller and just bought a mojo puppy today at Cabelas. I'll let you know how it works hopefully after this weekend.

A lot of people are using MOJO decoys. LIke 204 AR said the Mojo puppy is newest one that came out. I havent used it but its working for a lot of people on here. The Mojo Critter is a good one also.

I have three decoys. A flambeu coyote decoy, a jack in the box and just added a mojo critter that I have not even used yet. What I have noticed when using either or both of the first two is that it will help divert the coyotes attention when they come in. More than once I have had dogs looking at the coyote decoy to see if it was going to make a play on the jack in the box. Like I say, you dont have to use them all the time, but they are more options in the bag of tricks, kind of like using a mouth call or switching it up with an electronic caller.

I use FX3 and jack in box just like wireing togeather shutting on and off with one remote. Tried mouth calls ran more dogs off. Like JStone said more tricks more dogs. They are sneaky little things. Just dont get to carried away. Your dog bag will weigh more than you do.

Yeah my trick bag is way too full. I usually decide which I am taking with me for a particular day, leave some things at home or in the truck to lighten it a bit. Pretty sure I could outfit a couple different crews if I needed to. But, thats half the fun having all the different gadgets.

i am going to try my rabbit decoy this weekend. I have never used it before as I have seen (on tv) the coyote come running into it so fast and when they smell your scent on it they run away just as fast. Hopefully that isn't the case this weekend. I just need to try it myself because in the last two weeks I called in two coyotes that circled down wind and staired at me and you know the rest of the story.

Letting a coyote come all the way into a decoy may make for great filming but in my world they ain't going to make it that far. When they come into my kill zone (150-200) and they stop to look thing over they are DEAD period. The cross-hairs have been on them all the way,and when they stop or I bark at them to stop, in the next split second it is lights out.

I concur rifleman2. Coyotes i am lucky enough to call in aren't coming all the way in to the decoy. They usually hang up 150 yrds out and then i put them to bed.

Texas, sorry as I looked at your question again found that I didn't answer it. MOJO CRITTER is my decoy of choice, Spitfire
is my E-caller and have added the FOXX FOX to my decoys. I shoot a Savage 12 in 22-250 with a 4-12 scope. You do need a good range finder and also I have a laminated card that I lay out beside me that has drop chart, wind chart and reticule info on it.

I have a decoy, but don't use it much. I like to travel light & but the time they can see the decoy in thick cover it's already past the time to be shooting.
