Was talking to a guy in a gunstore today, which I really try to avoid for several obvious reasons. Usually not worth my time to listen to them because they dont ever know what there talking about. Pipe dreams...

This guy, proceeds to tell me how he took his brand new axis/edge in .223 with a standard plex 3-9 bushnell scope and was killing squirrels at an honest to god 600 yards everytime, dead center. I say really?? How high were you holding over them. Ahh I wasn't he says, was putting the crosshair right on there chest he says, pull the trigger and they'd go flying off the log. Hmmm, I think for a second, you got any target knobs or BDC reticles on that there Bushnell I ask? Nah, I shoot so much he says, I know the 223 like the back of my hand. Then he goes on to say, every coyote hes killed has been a headshot, lol. Ask him what kinda ammo he uses, reloads or factory. I knew it was coming, didn't even have to ask, walmart specials finest!

Is it just me, or does anyone else have a really hard time listening to this crap?? How and where people even come up with this stuff is beyond me.

There are similar posts in the Membership section about this stuff. But seeing you brought it up here.....
I have a friend of probably 25 years thats so full of crap its not funny, but I still love the guy.
Him and his buddy, name with held, were squirrel hunting. There driving down the road and he stops the truck. Gets out and shoots a coon, (racoon). 60 yards and hit him square between the eyes, with a 22LR. His buddy asked, How did you even see him? He replied, I saw his ears moving. OMG

As far as what to do? Beats me, I just sit back in amazment and wonder if they think I really beleive the crap.

The very first thing you learn when hanging around a gunstore is..."First liar dont stand a chance!!!"....

"I shot a prairie dog the other day that weighed 65 pounds............took a picture of it. .....Picture weighed 4 lbs.!!!

That's funny, I don't care who you are.

Man. I love my little edge .223 but now after hearing this I'm beginning to think I got one of those Friday rifles. Screwed over again.

3-9x40 crapnell=$50
axis/edge rifle=$250
pmc 55g fmj=$20
600 yds 4" targets nailed every time........priceless
don't hate.....LMAO!!!!!!

Ya know, I can handle it coming from someone that is clearly full of crap. I have a harder time when its the guy behind the counter spewing that kind of garbage that gets me.

It wasnt the guy behind the counter thankfully or I probly woulda layed into him for a few minutes and left him with a dumbfounded look on his face.

As for the guy behind this story, I seriously doubt he was hitting these squirrels at much past 100 yards in all reality with his set up.

Our ground squirrels are only about 4" tall and 2" wide, so you get the idea here. With a 9x duplex scope, with no holdover, no windage, no bipod, 600 yards lol, ya ok man.

I guess I got him going when I said I've had a few savages over the years and I couldn't get them to consistantly shoot under MOA for me, which again I got that funny look.

Always like the guy selling bows to a noobie that claims "this bow will kill deer at 70 yards". Makes you wonder how many gutshot deer are never found because of him.
