I need another barrel?

Well the throat in my .243 is wearing, thinking of replacing it with a 22 creed. 26 inch 8 twist.

I guess you don't need a good reason for another barrel...just not sure what chambering. I have had everything from a 17 rem. up to 25-06 for coyotes.

I am retiring mid September so one more Won’t hurt.🤣

If you have an itch you need to scratch it, your old enough to make that decision. Weigh your needs and wants (a lot of times my wants are more important than needs), good luck on you decision.

I have a hard time even trying to help as I have no idea what the intended purpose of the rifle is. Called coyotes in open country is a different rifle for me than where I'd never get a shot over 300. Doubling as a deer or antelope rifle again would be different. Hunting from a high house or still hunting again different.

Another coyote slayer, not that I don't have enough now.
My shots are typically under 400. And everything I have now is capable, more of a want. And I like to play, could be a fun option. 👍

Those 22 Creed's are all the rage right now, and for good reason. They are lighting bolts when they strike coyotes. Several of my buddies use them and the pictures they send are gnarly. If you don't reload, Hornady does a good job with making ammo available. I say go for it. I think several guys on here shot them. SuppressYourself is the one that comes to mind on here. He would be the guy to ask questions.

Yes, sir I hope everyone understand I don't dislike the 22 Creedmoor.
I think it's a fine cartridge.
But a 8 or faster twist 22 creed opens up the 77-80grs pills at a respectable velocity. No two way about it.
Now would I go to the slower twist yes but I varmint hunt way more than shoot a Yote two different targets. needing a different tool than what I normally would chose. But if my target was Yotes, heck yeah I'd be 1-8" to 1-6.5" Twist. (1-6.5 T is good for the 90grs that SMK and JLK bullet comes to mind, although a target bullet, The ELD's is a solid pick too)
That setup should give you the best of both worlds IMHO.

Thanks Mike..I do run a 10 twist 22-250, and it is a fine cartridge but that 22 creed running 75 or 80g ELDM's could be devastating.
It is. I've been running a 22 Creed with the 75 ELDM, and it puts an absolute beating on coyotes. Not a good choice for those that save fur, but if you just want them good and dead like I do, I'm not sure it can be beat.

Here's a taste of what it can do from last season. Note the flying pieces.

only thing I like better than my 22 creedmoor is my 6 saum, for open country coyotes nothing bucks the wind and anchors coyotes way out there, I have a 275 zero and hold just off fur at 400, way easier than anything else, range before you call and know where 400 is, and point and shoot, dead,

What bullet and speed are you running in the 6MM SAUM?

Thanks

You are causing me to think of the Ole Remington 722 in a 1-7"T in that caliber (22 Creed) MDT field stock with the correct magazines..... after the Savage in 1-12"T 22 Rem BR is done of course, and with that twist you know the purpose is gophers and such.
thinking of trying this vendor for the 22Rem BR pre-fit:

I know he list the .080" freebore for the 22 creed which I think will support the ELD's you mentioned a quick email to him would confirm that or he might state it might need more IDK

I am liking my prefit in 22br it's shooting very well. Mine is on a 700 action 28in strait contour 7.5 twist.

Living up here in Canada I have JC Cutom Barrels do the chambering. He is on the east coast and this is my third barrel from him.
All have shot great and the workmanship is excellent.👍
