I need some good socks. Socks that won't let my boots eat them.

I like an over the calf or knee length sock. I used to get a support sock from JC Penny that worked well with my LaCross 16 inch Burley boots. Since then they changed to a sock called Gold Toe and they seemed fine for a while. Now they lose their elasticity after just a few washings.

Does anyone have any suggestions for an over the calf/knee length sock that does not fall down or let rubber boots eat them? Ones that have some quality to them.

Thanks in advance,

Mike

I usually wear a super thin poly or silk sock on my feet to wick sweat, then follow over the top of that sock with SmartWool socks of whatever thickness I need for warmth. While expensive, the SmartWool socks are excellent quality.

Will the Smartwool socks stay up or do they just keep you warm? I don't need warm, I need something that won't fall down. I hate for my socks to fall down especially when they bunch up at your toes or around your ankles.

I don't have any trouble with them slipping down. You might consider an old trick we used to do when I played football and baseball. Pull the socks over the top of the calf where you want them and take a turn around the top of the sock with electric tape. A wrap and a half with a little tension will hold them there forever if you have any calf muscles at all. If your lower leg is the same shape as a flag pole with no development of the muscle, then nothing will hold them up.
