I want a screamin 22-I am not sure which 1 t get-220 swift AI,22-243,22-6mm,or 22 cheetah.Mabe u could tell me which one you think is best-which one is fastest? OH, what about the 22-284

Can I ask why?

You said FAST so I gather it is not for shooting heavies a long way. There is not much to gain over a standard 22-250 and 220 Swift, even AIing either of them will gain very little other than minimizing brass maintenance. 40gr NBT's will get you up to 4300 fps in either them, I,m guessing getting much more than that will just accelerate barrel wear.

Now if you want to shoot Heavies, the larger cases will give you more room for slower burning powders.

I tend to select things based on if Lapua offers brass for it so for me it'd be 22-250 or 22-243. If you are going to use a fast twist long barrel, maybe look into 22-284 but you really need to shoot the heaviest for caliber bullets and use a relatively long barrel to see the benefit.

I'm a bigger fan of hot rod 243/6mm stuff because I think it offers more versatility. If I wanted to shoot lighter bullets super fast I'd go with a 20-250 or 20-250 improved and shoot the 40-55 grainers.

But, if a hot rod 22 is just what you want, in all honesty, any of them you've mentioned will get it done. How much you're willing to spend and how much prep work you want to do will help determine which reamer you have your gunsmith stick in the barrel.

I shoot a .22-250AI and I am running 60 grain Bergers at a tad over 3800 fps. Very flat shooting and kills Coyotes well. And yes that is with Lapua Brass......

Good Hunting Chad

As was stated it all depends what weight of bullet you want to shoot fast. I shoot a 22BR with 40gr noslers at 4150fps and good barrel life.

And I think someone had a photo of their .22-155mm Howitzer brass on here at one time or another....!

check into a very FAST 20 cal. .204 ruger much better barrel life, better BC than a 22-250 and will send em to 4k+ Ive had many 22-250s n its a great round but have totally sold out to the much under publicized .204 ruger....haters gonna hate, but its a fantastically accurate round with very little downside.

Uses and max distances???
You are not being detailed in what you want, since you can do stupid things with large cases and neck them down to 22 caliber...as has already been noted.
What length action?
Single shot or repeater?
The bullets you mentioned are not the heavy ones for the caliber.

Yup. With today's powders and bullets it's even better now than it was 80 years ago.

A .22/250 AI is the same thing ballistically speaking and brass is a bit easier to come by. But to those of us that love the .220 Swift, and there are many, the Swift is still the king.

Everything else is just a wannabe.
