I would put a better scope on that thing so you can adjust for windage...

Well, shucks- that's OK. It's a rare day that I got the energy to spend the entire day out in the field shooting critters anymore. But, someone has to do it I suppose and it may as well be me.

I bet if Lapua ever started making the 6x47L brass it would neck down to a whipper snapper of a fast .22 round.

Heck they make it already just one pass thru the sizer die and Wallah...

Can you do a no-turn .22 neck straight from the 6.5 case?
The most I've ever necked down at one time was the 6.5 to the 6x47, and that's a no-turn deal.

Geez it's getting better all the time.
That would be well worth turning necks.

And I forgot to mention maybe you started out with boogered brass and then didn't know how to properly set up a sizing die.
That's just a guess based on the information you provided.

Tough to resize factory ammo while it's loaded, could you give me some tips on how to keep the pin from pushing the bullet down?

I'd be happy to return the favor by telling you how to stick something somewhere if you like- just for the sake of being fair.

I do take the Lapua 243 down to 22 cal in one pass and turn after!! it may take two pass's from 6.5 to 22 cal...

Well, well, well-it looks as though you were actually trying to make quality AI brass from factory ammo.

Now, would you like me to answer your question about making AI brass from factory ammo first, or would you like for me to reply to your insult?

I promise you I can do either with equal enthusiasm.

Thanks Kevin.
I know a bunch of the guys here have done the 22-243 with killer results.
I've just gotten spoiled with the shoulder angle and the zero stretch on the dang 6.5x47L brass.
And I gotta admit that I've never turned the first neck on a piece of brass and I figured I'm too dang old to learn something new!

Ernie, I wouldn't mind the labor at all-if I new the results were worth the time and effort.
I've pointed over 1000 bullets in the last couple of days and the jury's still out on that one.

FW, is it possible to use factory ammo for fireforming. I lost half of the stuff that I bought. I used regular remington 150 grn corelokts. 150 grain .280 remington. Not really half but 5 out of twenty is annoying enough to call it half for me. Anyway the necks had a verticle split in them. From the mouth to about the center of the neck.
