icotec

Daggum madmac, you're slowing down. Took ya 21 days to get here this time.

Better start taking your vitamins again.

It's a curse sometimes, but I can't seem to leave anything as it comes stock from the manufacturer. (my kid seems to be also afflicted with the curse

Awhile back I picked up a Icotec GC300 from the classifieds here. These lil callers actually sound pretty dang good and are a good buy for the money as far as I'm concerned. But, it does/did lack the volume I want in a caller.

I received this caller and immediately got the urge to *modify*....Sooo, I took all the guts out of the Icotec gc300. I then mounted all the GC300 internals in a nice waterproof box and mounted a 5" horn speaker on top. Biggest reason for doing all of this was so I could add an amp to the system. Which I did. Along with another battery to run the amp.

The reviews from the people on Amazon concerning not enough volume would not be there if they would of built the caller like this to start with.

PS....It'll be for sale once fall gets a little closer and guys get serious about calling again..

I ve used this caller for 6 months now...and I have to say its a great caller and has very good volume....only draw back is that you can t program your owns calls into it....and its not over priced like a lot of the others...as for Chinese...most everything we use these days is made out of the States includeing the glass in most top of the line scopes we have on our guns...so read the reviews and then you can make your decision....also read reviews on FoxPros also....Pred53

I have to say no, it doesn't have very good volume. Actually pretty anemic in that department.

You obviously haven't been around a caller that really does have "very good volume" to compare it to.

And obvisously you hav nt hunted Pa and I hav nt hunt the west...just giving my opinion..they have all the volume needed here in the east...for me..

Don't matter if you use the caller North, South, East or West. The fact remains. A Icotec GC300 does not have very good volume.

But I am glad it has the volume you need there in the East. If you're happy with it, that's all that matters.

I stated in a post some time back, for someone on a budget and wanting to get into the sport these calls are hard to beat.. Our shop has sold a bunch (over 50 now) and have had no complaints or issues with malfunction. Most of our customers know when they're spending seventy bucks they're not getting top of the line stuff.
I have taken guys calling that have purchased the icotec and they immediately realize the differences between their call and my Fox Pros'. I'm sure some will become addicted to calling and up-grade and some will remain satisfied.

Rusty, even out west here we/I am guilty of ramping the volume up too loud too quickly. I have to fight my impatient urges all the time lol.
