Just wondering, now that duck are geese are done for the season, and that my deeks are not doing much.
What about taking one of my mojo’s covering the thing with fur replace the wing with some kind of tail much like that jack in the box thing that they sell.
I think with this apparatus that I’m thinking of trying …..has the movement bit taken care secondly its deadly silent at least the ducks and geese think so ….what do you all think

I've been thinking along the same lines. Another thought is taking a walk threw Toys-R-Us and finding much the same thing in a moving child's toy. There's all kinds of battery operated motion devices hooked into some toys, just have to re-fit one with something that looks like a mouse.

my nephew has a "weasel ball" toy thats a big ball with a bushy tail hooked onto it. when when you push the button it rolls around. i think if i just add
some sound it would make an awesome decoy. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I suspend my weasel ball from a ball bearing swivel connected to a very light coil spring and hang it on a fence or bush. It has lots of action and some low level noise.
I have called in a trio with it already.

i have two weasle balls, one on a long spring covered with rabbit fur. i place it on a stake when the ground isn't frozen. the other i throw out on hard packed snow

my home brewed decoy has a weasle ball for a motor inside
a fuzy fleece sock with a few turkey feathers shoved into it it is then suspended from a low limb . you have to drill
a couple holes in it and i have found it makes a big diff how you suspend it,ie where you drill your holes. It works great. If you guys want I could try and post some pics.

Ok It might be a while as I will have to get the wife
to help with the pics cause i dont know S!!t about It.
She is a sweaty though and It wont take long

I also did the weasel ball on a spring trick and attached it to a stake and covered it in fake fur. I'll also try and get a picture to post how it is put together.

I've tried the weasel ball but I didn't like the noise of the motor. So what I did was buy a small electric motor from Radio shack along with a power supply that is powered by 2 AA batteries. Wired a rheostat in line to control the speed of the wing. Then went to the craft store and bought some foam. Carved out spaces for the motor, rheostat and power supply. Used pheasant feathers pushed into the foam for camo and added a ball bearing swivel on braided fishing line to hang. Also wired in a clamp so I could clip it on fences or branches.

Used a pencil eraser to connect the electric motor to a wire coming from a quail wing. The wire in the quail wing runs completely through the wind and half way into the pencil eraser.

I use the rheostat to just barely move the quail wing. Without the rheostat the wind goes at warp speed.

Easy to carry - just pull the wing off the motor and put both in your vest.

If I recall correctly I spent this on the components.

$5 for the Radio Shack motor
$3 For AA battery tray/PS
$5 for the reastat
$1 Foam
