ideal scope for 17 Rem

Just picked up a Remington 700 in 17 Rem an having a hard time deciding on a scope. Have around 300 to spend. Any suggestions?

Nikon ProStaff comes to mind...I've never owned one myself but from what I've heard and read Mueller scopes seem to be good for the money...This would be the man to contact:

I ran a Leupold 4.5-14 on my .17 Rem for a long time and also a 4-12 Swaro, but I just switch and put on a Zeiss Conquest 3-9 on mine.

I'd personall would buy a used Zeiss or Leupold.

I'd look for a 1.75-6, 2.5-8, 3.5-10 Leupold or a 3-9 Zeiss.

I agree SuperSeal... I have been running Zeiss on my rifles here lately but he said he only had around $300.00 to spend...You look around and you might find a used Zeiss for around that price like SuperSeal suggested...Good luck..

I agree SuperS. I have been running Zeiss on my rifles here lately but he said he only had around $300.00 to spend...You look around and you might find a used Zeiss for around that price..

You can buy new Conquest for $400, so $300-$325 is what they usually bring used.

Heck, the 3-9 Conquest I'm running on my .17rem I bought for $225 shipped on another forums. My old 4.5-14ao Leupold I bought used for $275. Good deals are out there everyday. Just need to be quick on the fs forums since good chit sells its self...

I have had good luck with this .17 Remington scoped with a Burris FF2 4.5X-14X BP.

I have a Clearidge Ultra XP 4.5-14x40 rifle scope on my .17 and it is a great scope for under $300.00. You will not find a better quality scope for the money.

I have a 6X18 Burris on my CZ Varmint, I just picked up a 4X16 Weaver on sale at Natchezz last week for $279.

I Don't have a .17 Rem., yet. But, I will probably put a 2.5-8 Leupold on it when I do. Or maybe a 1.75-6. We'll see when that time finally comes.
I am REALLY happy with the 2.5-8 Leupys I have on my AR and Mini-Mauser. But those are both .223.

Good choices. You could add a Nikon Monarch 2-8 to that list also.

Also, what are you planning on doing with the rifle? Coyote hunting strictly, varmints, or both?
