If you see this!!........What would ya do?

I wouldn't call too many people, those critters are protected here in Wa. State. Maybe grab up a few dozen and drive'em over to Idaho and shoot them over there /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

The Libbys say hands off the Marmots of Washington State.....I wonder if that means bullets too /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

For those of you that are unaware, read this before ya go squeezin'. It's under section 3 of this page.....Which includes the hoary marmot Marmota caligata aka Rock Chuck.

Sorry FALfire, I wouldn't get all of us rockchuckers up in arms just yet. The yellow bellied marmot (Marmota Flaviventris) is the species we hunt down here in the lowlands and croplands. It is simply a ground squirrel in the Marmot genus. The ones you referenced in the WAC statutes are for the hoary marmot - marmota caligata and the Olympic marmot - Marmota Olympus and most of those are found in the mountainous areas at or above the tree line and mostly found in Alaska. I for one will keep whacking the local "rockchuck" and leave the one's up in the mtns for the West side Lib's to protect.

Hey, thanks for the info I stand corrected. Living on the west side for so long I was only aware of the Hoary species /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smiliesmack.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused1.gif

Now this is really good news, guess I need to break out the 22-250 and get busy.

Let me see if I have this right.....breath, hold and slowly squeeze /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

They are not so little, last couple I popped where twice the size of your average praire dog. A 223 with 55 grainers rips them up really good, I got pics too but we got rules here.

DAA, what the heck are you shooting to get that much air time?!?! I've never even seen that with my 22-250 AI. That one looked like it was blown over the treetop to the left of it.

Believe it or not, that clip they were all shot with my .22-250AI using the 55 Vmax. A few in the other clip were with my old 6AI or my 6-284, but most of them were also with the same .22-250AI/55 Vmax. That's been my go-to 'chuck rig for quite some time now.

I've been shooting 60 grain Berger's with nowhere near the areobatics that you're getting!! Guess I'll have to give the plastic tipped bullets a look. And remember guys, don't kill them all, leave some for seed!

I would wait for him to turn and give me a quartering away shot at the vitals.......at least a double lung shot. A wounded boar can be mean to deal with. SM /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
