I'm going foxpro...

Well I decided I am going to get myself a foxpro unit. I don't have a whole lot of money, so I am going to get the model 48. This means I get 8 sounds to pick of course I can alway go up to a 16 sound library and a remote down the road. So for now I would like some help with the 8 sounds I get to pick. My targeted species are: grey fox, red fox and of course, the coyote. Now, I live in penns woods so that may make a bit of a difference in what sounds I use. I am thinking the grey fox in distress would be a good start, a cottontail distress, some sort of a bird and so on a so forth. How effective is the howl out of these units, can you get a coyote to respond back well as they would a hand call? What other sounds are good, I could go for coon also but I dont know if it is productive enough to put a coon sound on my unit. I have also been applying for the bobcat permit in pa, is there any sound I should get that will work for fox, coyotes that will cover me if I get so lucky to be drawn next season? Thanks for the help, Jim.

just an idea ,but since fox season is almost over, why not wait until you have enough for the 16 sound remote model ,Summer will be here soon and you can make enough money for it ( another 160 Dollars more then the model 48 ).you will have 16 sounds and remote.and alot happier in the long run.

I would have to agree with dave2pa on waiting....
I think you would be happyer in the long run....
Its going to cost you in the long run anyway...It all up to you I guess....also you will have to wait anyway for them to catch up so why not wait to get what you want.

and I have to agree with Weasel-UT on the woodpecker call.

Hi i would wait too and yes the woodpecker in distress is a must and i like the Cottontail in distress #2 over #1 i think it is a sound they mite not heard as much as the # 1 and aslo a good sound would be that rodent in distress for fox and i like the Starling in distress go to www.allpredatorcalls.com and you can listen to all the sounds i got the 416 with remote the only thing i wish i would have done is went ahead and got the 32 sound one i love mine it is the ONLY WAY to go so light and easy to use good luck VM /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

JimMck....I went with the old 48 then up to the 416 no remote and sold it and have a 532 with remote on the way plus i have sent my call in twice for a sound change. I've had a foxpro for several years and wouldn't have anything else in the way an e-caller goes. I would be afraid to add up all the money i have spent to get this for. So like the others i would wait and do it right the first time. At less the 416 w/remote or 532 w/remote and ap-1 adapotor. The one in the picture above is borrowed from a friend until i get my new one. The remote is a must have. You can set it upwind of you and let them work the wind and they will end up in your lap.DM
