IMR 4227 45 colt Ruger only loads

Rugers can be loaded pretty hot safely enough but I for one dont see much point in trying to make a magnum out the standard .45 Colt. BUT, you should be OK with 23 grains of 4227 with a 250 grain bullet. I know of people that used more than that with even heavier bullets but as I get older I find that I dont need or like heavy loads near as much as I did at one time. I get beat up a lot quicker than I used to.

Thanks for the info. I lucked into 3 lbs of IMR4227 at Cabela's today. First magnum pistol powder I have seen in over a year. I have a Bisley Blackhawk 5.5" stainless convertible on layaway that will be coming home next weekend. Been looking for one for quite a while. I have a plow handle 44 mag hunter that I like very much and I will finally be able to compare the two side by side.
