Such a total non-sensical waste! Not just the firearms that could be sold back to responsible background checked people but also the cost to the American taxpayers for the operation of the facility doing the destruction. Can anyone tell me a plausible reason for this operation?

I don't know if it's plausible, but I'm going to go with "It makes some people feel good." You know, the "We have to DO something" crowd, even if what they do is wrong.

The description of the video states, "See how confiscated weapons are processed and rendered unusable through heavy-duty machinery and controlled destruction procedures".
The irony of this is that they aren't simply "rendered unusable", they are turned into munitions to be launched at some yet unknown date and time. They are still slated to kill someone.
