Installing a Harris Bipod on a Bushmaster

Hey everyone!

I'm having a hard time and was looking for some advice. I have a Harris bipod i just bought for my Stainless Varmit Special and I can't figure out how to install it. I bought the right bracket for it also. I was hoping someone on here might have experience with it. Do I have to take the handguard off? Any help is greatly appreciated since the instructions that came with it weren't much help.

Thanks

On mine, I drilled a hole in the lower side of the forearm, installed a swivel stud and backed it with a nut. It works on mine.

Hey thanks for the replies! It has the free floating handguard. After looking at it some more I have figured out that I dont need the adapter kit at all!? The handguard already has the stud on it. When I looked at the bipods in the store I understood that I needed an adapter but now I'm pretty sure thats just with the plastic type of handguards. Anyways I hooked it up last night and it seems to be working perfectly.

Thanks!

Stole my thunder......I was gonna tell you that you got jipped if you didn't get an installed stud with a Varmint Special.
Glad you got it figured out. And now that you have the bipod installed I'll throw a little grease on the fire. If you know anybody that has shooting sticks, try them. IMO they are much more versatile than a bipod.

That is what I was trying to figure out. I have a couple of the Harris adapters on some of my older std. AR's and they work very well. Glad you figured it out.
