Is it a good idea to eat squirrels from forest at this time of year? (Prescott)

I just collected a squirrel today. I skinned it and have it in the freezer. I want to marinade in 3days. No spotted liver like a bad rabbit. No ticks just one giant flea. He looks tasty any ifo appreciated.

I don't have any idea what kind of squirrels y'all have around Prescott AZ, but if it isn't an eastern gray squirrel or a fox squirrel I'd chalk it up to bad luck on the squirrel's part and get rid of it.

Quarter up a couple of big white onions in the pot, add salt and fresh ground black pepper, and simmer until the onions are gone.
The meat should be falling off the bone by then.
You need to have at least 4-6 squirrels in the pot.

This thread actually belongs over in the small game forum.
All of the ground squirrels and several of the tree squirrels are varmints, but grays and fox squirrels belong in the small game category.

It was not all smashed up? Not much meat on a single squirrel... May want to save it till you get a couple more to cook with it...

Squirrel;

cook in pressure cooker for 7 minutes with a 1/4 onion and a clove of garlic, nothing else needed

Now, a jack rabbit or a pigmy cotton tail thrown in there with it makes for some good eating. River beds there are full of pigmy cotton tails, they are tender, head shoot them.

good eating!
