Is the bolt carrier group a "drop-in" assembly?

I have an opportunity to buy a match grade upper at a very reasonable price but it lacks the BCG and charging handle. Can I just buy a replacement BCG & charging handle and drop it in or does it need fitting? I've never done a "build", just swapped complete uppers and lowers and smoothed triggers. The upper I am considering is used but doesn't appear to have a lot of rounds through it. It's a Bushmaster V-match.

Typically the BCG is 'standard' but some companies use a proprietary one. They are different for some calibers. Charging handle is standard but many varieties. Go to bushmaster web site to get info, call them if needed.

A standard AR15/M16 Bolt Carrier Group in .223/5.56 and charging handle will drop right in.

Those Bushmaster V-Match rifles (and uppers) were darn good shooters, you should be quite happy with it if it's in great shape. What's the barrel length?

Yeah. I have played musical Bolt and BCG's and seen very little difference in head space, if any on most occasions.

Here is a link to a quality/budget group that I have experience with.

The deal fell through (someone else snapped it up) so I'm keeping my eyes open for another. Thanks for all the advice. It is good to know such info based on experience.

I know the deal fell through, but I want to mention my personal experience. I have a factory Bushmaster(556). I have several builds,20p,223 Wyde(2),17 rem. The builds I can swap bolts(I don't, but have checked headspace). 2 of the bolts will NOT work with the factory Bushy. It's been years since I measured the bolt face recess, if I remember correctly the Bushy was a few thousandth deeper. So the Bushy bolt I consider 100% dedicated.
