Is there any call that sounds 100% exactly like a full grown bear? If there is please tell me the brand and model of the call.

Thanks

Mike

Bears make several different sounds. Which one are you looking for and what were you planning to do with it?

I'm interested in a call that sounds 100% exactly like a grown bear growl. I'm not goint to be hunting with this call or trying to call a bear in with it. I simply want to reproduce the sound of a full grown bear growl with a hand held call that sounds 100% authentic. Same with the wolf howl hand held call I'm looking for. I'm not looking for an electronic call either.

I've seen a few calls made to sound like a bear cub or calls made to sound like injured rabbits to actually call the animals in and that is not what I'm looking for.

Thanks for your reply

Mike

If it is for frightening kids, I don't think you will need a 100% exact call. Their imaginations will take care of that. We were archery elk hunting in a wilderness area a few years ago no one else around and having a great time. We went out for the days hunt and came back and there was some yahoo that had set up his camp about 50 yards away and had a huge fire going. There were hundreds of other places he could camp. We spoke to him and he said it was a free country and we should move. We agreed and went on our way and warned him of the bear problems we had been having (The only problem with the bears is I had not shot one yet, he was not from here and we found out he was not crazy about bears). My buddy had a trick he learned in the Boy Scouts. You take a 1 gallon coffee can (had one in the truck and got it when we went out to get supplies) poke a hole in the middle of the bottom and feed a thick cotton rope with a knot tied to the end so it dosent pull through. You wet the rope hold the can in the crook of your arm and grip the rope very firmly and pull down slowly. I have never heard anything sound more like a bear growl. My buddy snuck out at 2 AM 2 nights in a row and made those sounds from the timber behind that guys tent. The first night we heard nothing from him, the second he burst out of the tent yelling and banging on a pan. Never saw him in the mornings (must not have gotten much sleep) but when we came back the evening after the second night he was gone. It worked great!

Thanks for the information. What I'm looking for might not be on the market? I was wondering if a call company actually has made something like this?

Thanks

Mike

Yoff you and your buddy are lucky I wasnt that guy,I respond to bear growls behind my tent in the form of a 357 mag, might want to think twice before you recomend that trick to anyone,I know an Alaskan guide that tells his clients on day one to never imitate a bear around camp for any reason, more than one person has been shoot for this very reason.
