IZH-94 or other combo gun question

I owned the IZH 94 12GA /223 Rifle. they are a kicker , I think it sped up my torn rotator cuff surgery. I used my gun for both daylight and night hunting. I don't get to hunt that much and it never failed , every time I went coyote hunting I seen pheasants flying all over the place with no shotgun , every time I went pheasant hunting I would see a coyote at 100 yards with no rifle, so I bought the combo gun. I put Burris Fullfield scope on it with see through mounts. Gun ( Rifle barrel )shot a honest 1 1/4 inch group with the scope. My plan was to look through the see through mounts and shoot flying pheasants while coyote hunting with scope on gun. I just could not get on the flying bird fast enough through the see through mounts. I could only break about 2 clay birds out of 25. I finally sold the gun.
I was at a gun show about 2 months after I sold the IZH 94 combo gun and found some millet scope rings that have a iron sights that are on top of the rings. they quit making them in 2009. I think this set up would work for shooting the shotgun barrel at flying birds. I wish I could have tried this type of set up out before I sold the gun.

If you or any one would like to try this set of iron sight / scope rings let me know I will send them to you and you can see If it will work on flying birds ( clay birds ) and then send them back. I am thinking about buying a IZK 94 combo gun AGAIN if theses scope rings work for flying birds or clay birds. I think it should. I would like the IZH 94 owners thoughts on this subject. marty

I found that mounting a low power variable scope as low as possible(20mm objective lets it get very low) and building up the stock so I have the perfect eye placement when the stock hits my shoulder works great. I keep the scope on 1x until I have a need to stretch out the distance and shoot it with both eyes open on 1x for moving game, birds or hard chargers. Any time you have to move your head around to line things up slows you down very much.

As for kicking, with the option of the rifle instantly I've gone to 2 3/4 Buckshot loads to lessen the recoil. I don't need all that extra recoil of heavy 3" loads for the extra 10yrds they provide, if the dog is beyond 50 yards I switch to the rifle.

AWS.......have used the shotgun barrel with the scope on the gun to shoot a flying bird or clay bird ? if so how did it work out for you ? were you able to break or hit a high percentage of birds ? thanks. marty

About half on clays to see if it worked, killed a couple of ducks and a pheasant on the way back from stands I've only missed one bird on the wing but they were pretty much gimmee's anyway.

I pack TM 5's for the trip back.

That's an idea also, I see them on waterfowl guns on some of the TV hunting shows(I just watch bird hunting if I happen to surf through one)

I think getting a red dot to fit the dovetail is going to be the trick. I have shot doves, pheasant, and chukar with my Mossberg 835 wearing a Tasco Propoint. I haven't had a chance to try out my 1.5x-4.5x scope I just mounted up on movers from the Baikal yet.
