Jack rabbit vs snoeshoe hare call

What is the major difference between these two when it comes to the call? Is there an easy way to modify a jack call and get a snowshoe?

On the tape I have for my E Caller, the Snowshoe Hare has a more raspy sound than the Jackrabbit tape. The Jackrabbit sounds more like a low pitched whaa whaa sound. Not near as raspy but otherwise they are pretty close.

I think either would work. No two animals sound exactly the same when they are getting ate by something.

Just my opinion, I could be wrong, just ask my wife /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I have long advocated just what TheHuntedOne has stated. I will characterize it this way. I want to believe that if it sounds edible or delicious or interesting, a coyote will come to it. I do not say that simply to sell more sounds. It is a reality that Jackrabbit calls have been used all over the country successfully in areas they are not common to. That is one of the secrets that some who are more successful in their areas will not tell too many people.

I had a man tell me at a Fall Festival at Kittery Trading Post in Maine that the previous season, his best producing cassette was our CT101C Jackrabbit. Snow Shoes and Jacks are both Hares and have some simularities in their voices. I have used Our CT100 Snow Shoe in Texas successfully. I have also used our CT113A Grey Fox Pup Distress in areas where there are none and cleaned up on coyotes.
