Well, was a bad night, went out - thought would take a chance, got to venue and it started pouring, so bad luck, but that afternoon we had better luck, it was still sunny and 10 bells, we were able to call an hour prior to overcast weather, called an hour and popped 20 crows, all Pied Crows as per normal, called in about 3 hawks and a shrike. Used my homemade electronic and a few hand calls.

Had a good time, except for the fast approaching cold front-we could have shot another 10 easily, but was a ton of fun.I situate myself 10 yards from a fence line and have a blind of cover in the trees, works very well facing downwind, as they approach a stand from downwind with the wind under their wings for lift. I use a homemade foam decoy I carved and 2 Lohman decoys.

I will post photos in a while, a good day but rained for the dog hunt. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif

This is posted for AfricaPredator. Nice going Gary.

A one hour, early morning crow hunt. We called and shot 20 Pied crows. Note my homemade decoy Mildred with two Lohman crow decoys. This fence is 10 yards from our blind, they approached over our heads at no more than 15 yards when we let a few fall from the sky. I used my own electronic caller I make and a few hand calls.

Thankx 6mm, truth is we could have shot more, but got cloudy, not good for our crows, they like heat, also in breeding time ( Oct- Dec) its better to hunt em, this time of year is not so productive. But we did ok in the hour we were so kindly given by the heavens.

I am going on predator hunts now and giving courses for two months so wont be doing much crow popping any time soon again. So, after June will try again maybe, but cant wait for October. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grinning-smiley-003.gif

wish our crows had a white patch, or something neat. they look like big rascals too. this time of year you can really make a dent in the population. crows are scarce in this part of the county, Of course i've wasted a lot of lead at them. that white patch would make a nice spot for the cross-hair!

Baboon- yes! Hyenas only at places that pose problems, but yes. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smiliesmack.gif

Those creatures make my skin crawl for some reason ... they Hyenas just because of the way they look and those HUGE teeth on those baboons! I'd love to blast a whole bunch of them,

hey again, i never paid much attention to your guns. what are you shooting? side/bys? long bbls, too. was thinking it'd be nice to have our crows like red-winged black birds. we'd really have an aiming point.
