ok...who among us has solid data on when/why they shut down?
did they morph into USOptics or just some models?
i've read some ugly words on other sites,so,please no family dispersions.....

I don't know if they have shut down completely.
They did some repairs for me about 10 years ago although they were not delivering any new production to the general public.
They are still some of the best scopes ever made.

Many of the family are dead now.

John Unterl passed away about 15 to 20 years ago, while they were still located on East Street in Pittsburgh, PA. They were then bought by Rockey Green and they moved north of Pittsburgh to the small Town of Mars, PA, my old home. They stayed in business repairing Unertl scopes until further moving to Las Vegas, where they are today. They had repair parts for everything except for the glass, in Mars, and now in Vegas.
I'm short of time now, so I'll write more later.
I do have an old Unertl 1 1/2" Target scope in 24x that I use today. It was made in 1952, the year I graduated from High School.
