The Ohio State Trappers Association is having their convention in Circleville, Ohio this coming weekend at the Pickaway county fairgrounds.Starts on the 9th thru the 11th. There are seminars all day, everyday. Hope you can make it.

Also check with your state regulations getfoxy. Most states now have a mandatory class or classes that are required before you can even legally obtain a trappers license.

You'll learn a lot of the basics, and a ton of safety issues involved with trapping.

the main thing with trapping any animal is scent control. also I would visit www.trapperman.com and just look around. most of the times you will find what you are looking for. the best set to make I have found is a dirthole set because of versitility. don't worry about trying to catch a oppussom because they will definatly find your trap. more info on the dirthole set is on trapperman. also a good set for raccoon and mink is a pipe set. get yourself a piece of pipe about 1"1/2" round and cut it off at a 45 cut it about 16" long at the longest point take this and pond it into a bank along a stream or a heavily used trail so that about 8-12" is sticking out of the ground a lot of time lure is not even needed because both mink and raccoons and oppossums are naturally curious. I use a mixture lure that has berries and crawfish and fish oil in for bait. this seem to keep the animal there longer because he wants the bait. try to keep the opening about 6" of the ground at whatever angle. but remeber the steeper the angle the closer the trap has to be to the pipe.

yea ohio has somethin about tapping courses but im not sure about ky

but like what kind of traps do i need from coon 2 coyotes?

As mentioned, you might go to one of the trapping boards and read, read, read. It will answer many of the most basic questions and then you can fine tune your knowledge by asking specific questions. We'd have to write a book to start you from scratch.

But, trapping is fun. If you ever get in to it, it will provide you years of memories!
