Deadhorse,
Bobcats, like foxes, coons, beavers, muskrats, etc., are considered "furbearers" under Kansas law. To harvest a furbearer, you must have a furharvesting license. If you were born after June 1, 1966, you'll need to take the furharvester education correspondence course by contacting the {Pratt office or via the website).
Therefore, pursuing bobcats, whether by calling, shooting or trapping, requires a furharvester's license. Coyotes require a hunting license to hunt and a FH license to trap. Therefore, to "call predators" in KS, you need both a FH and hunting license if you wanna take both coyotes and furbearers like 'cats or foxes. (Coyotes cannot be hunted under a furharvesting license.)
Tagging your 'cats must be done before the end of the season whether you plan to sell, mount or tan the hide. It's free and as easy as contacting your local Conservation Officer or transporting the cat to a nearby KDW&P Office. You'll need your FH license and they'll record the means of harvest and location. BTW, if you kill 'cats before the end of the year, be sure to keep your 2004 FH license even after you buy your 2005 because they'll need the number from the '04 license for their records.
