keith type bullet?

A "Keith" type bullet (developed by Elmer Keith) is basically a flat nosed, conical, semi-wadcutter bullet, as I understand it.

It was designed to impart a large degree impact from heavy bullets as opposed to lightweight fast bullets... Most seem to be loaded for .357 magnum calibers and up.... If my memory serves me, it was developed initially for the .44 magnum.

Elmer was using the bullet in the 44 Special before the 44 mag was developed. Most of Keith's original designs have been changed somewhat, as his always incorporated 3 driving bands, a squared grease groove, and a large crimp groove.

There are many semi-wadcutter designs on the market now, and some call them "Keith bullets", but the vast majority of them are not..........
