Trying to decide on a scope and have been looking at all my options. I am very new at this, I have on order a RRA-PP, and trying to decide on a scope. Yes I know I can spend $50 to $2500.....some say spend what you did on the gun...yes very good advise. For now I am trying to decide on options...power, recticle. etc. I have come across this company called Kenton Industries, has anyone here used there products if so...looking for feedback. Thank You

I don't have one of there knobs yet, but I will be getting one. I did some research and everyone says to get the Kenton over the Leupold. One thing you need to do is call Kenton and tell them what your load info will be and they can tell you what scopes will work. I wanted to go with a Burris FFII but there was not enough elevation adjustment for my load, but they sugjested witch Burris would work and I did not care for any of them so I went with a Leupold. Like I said give them a call. Hope this helps.

What type of scope is right for you really depends on how you will use the rifle. The AR-15 platform is very versitile and there are many very good choices for optics. I have had more than a few on AR-15's over the years and my favorite optic is a Trijicon compact ACOG in a La Rue RCO mount. The .223 cartridge is a fairly flat shooting cartridge out to about 300 yds and only at that point does it become important to be able to dial in correction for trajectory compensation. If you are on a budget I would strongly consider the Leupold FX3 fixed power 6x42 with long range duplex this reticle has hold over points that can be used for known distances. For almost all applications those options will do for a hunting type or self defense type rig. Now if we are talking range queen or prairie dog hunting you need a more powerful optic.
The long standing all around scope has for years been a 3-9x42 scope and the best one with good target knobs at a reasonable price is the variable Super Sniper http://swfa.com/SWFA-SS-3-9x42-Tactical-Riflescope-P41044.aspx and while Kenton might not have knobs SWFA should be able to provide some blanks for Kenton to engrave but it might take a few months to get them. If you are looking for Kenton knobs and I have had several of them and still run two sets one on a .308 one on a 300 WM but they are set to a specific cartridge in a specific caliber at a specific elevation and temperature etc and if your barrel is shorter or longer than what they are figuring you may be off a little. Working with tactical knobs is simply a matter of keeping notes on what setting on the knob works for what distance or Kenton makes it easy http://www.kentonindustries.com/pics/picbytype/ and I prefer the speed dial style. This is a good one to use Kentons on : http://swfa.com/Leupold-45-14x40-Mark-4-LRT-30mm-Riflescope-P2550.aspx I keep notes inside the lens cap or on the stock. I really like the 1/10 mil adjustments of the variable Super Sniper better than 1/4 moa clicks. There is an advantage to having clicks and reticle match. Nightforce builds some lovely scopes and if you can afford on buy it and never look back - for most of us we cant afford it.
Another type of optic well worth a look for a hunter is the Trijicon Accupoint scopes which come in 2.5-10x56 and some othe variables both low and higher the 5-20x50 has target knobs with 1/4moa clicks - these are very nice scopes and whatever you mount use La Rue Tactical mounts.

Thank you for your info...yes I have decide on the LaRue mount a little more costly than a few others, but seems from the research I have done and input on a few forums...it is worth it. Still investigating scopes an looking at what my primary function will be with this scope.. Thanks again for your knowledge on this subject I appreciate it.

I have a Kenton set up on a 10x Super Sniper for the 168 BergerVLD on a 7mag Sendero, had the BC, Velocity, altitude etc set up for the one load, it works very well out to 6 hundred, which is far as I want to shoot because of wind dope etc, I mabe my own hash marks on the same turret for the 140 Accubond/ballistic tip as these hit 7 inches higher than the 168 at 500, so one can make a Kenton a bit more flexible than one load, I would grab a Bushnell 10x 40 3200 for a place to start with spinning turrets on that rig, they are lighter than a super sniper and track very well also
