Anyone know about the cw9 or cw 40. I am thinking of getting 1 for a carry gun. They any good?
How would they compair to S&W MP,compact

I checked out Kahr for a carry gun but found a great deal so I opted to pay more and went with a M&P .40c for carry.

Have heard nothing but good about Kahr arms though and think you can't go wrong either way.

Kahr makes a great firearm. Both are great. Ill give you one piece of advice though, if you get one go straight out and shoot about 200 rounds through it. They call for that in manual if i remember correctly for break in period, and they need it! they are very tight from factory and once you get past that 200 rounds its like someone flipped a switch and they become amazing. Ive shot several models and love them all.

I had the CW9 and never had a malfunction from jt. Felt good in the hand and was very accurate. Traded it for a G26 .Wish I would have kept it.

I have the cm9 which is just a little smaller than the cw. really a great little 9mm. probably like 450 rounds thru it with no problems at all. also have a pm45, gave some trouble during breakin, but good now. I would buy another without any reservations.

I have a CM9 and like it small enough to pocket carry. The CW9 is just a little larger. One thing that you can do to shorten the break in is to rack the slide a few hundred times. I did it and ran a mixed lot of around a hundred rounds with no problems. They do have a few odds issues. They recommend not to slingshot when you load the gun. You first need to lock the slide back then use the slide release to ensure the gun goes into battery. Mine won't reliable go into battery if I slingshot. The manual says to unload and decock the gun when you are not carrying it. Pain in the butt. I did it for a while but now like most Kahr owners I leave it cocked, could end up with a weak spring eventually.

I have the CW9, CW40, and CW45. None of them have ever jammed.

The 45 will even digets 200g SWC with no jams.

All of these are very accurate.

9mm: Book Max load of AA#7 with a 124g Speer Gold dot
Book Max load of Power Pistol, 115g HP

45: 9.6g of AA#5 with 185g Nosler Hp or Speer Gold dot
6.0g of Uniuque with 200g SWC
8.0g of AA#5 with a 220g Hard cast

40: Book Max load of AA#5 with Nosler 150g HP

These are tiny guns and easily concealable, accuracy with all of these guns are hard to believe. Small guns are not easy to shoot accurately until you pick up one of these guns.

Got a friend with a PM 40 that is on its way back to Kahr for the 2nd time. Pistol has FTF's every 5th or 6th shot. Pistol had well over 200 rounds through it before he sent it back the first time. Pistol malfunctions with several different shooters and different brands of ammo. Pistol came back from Kahr and still does the same thing.

I want one to carry in the summer but I will not buy one until I see how Kahr handles this.

I have a PM40 and it shoots great. I bought it used but it looked new. I've had no misfires as of yet but haven't shot it that much either. Very concealable. I was looking for a CM9 when I found a really good deal on the 40.

Sounds like a magazine spring issue. Did he try new springs in his mags. Kaye probably uses there known mags while testing function. Just a thought. The few I have been around have been reliable gun

I have/had a pm40. Its in the mail to buds gunshop as a trade for a pocket 380 and sub 9mm. I'm looking forward to no longer owning it. Its the 2nd tiny 40 I've owned, giving up on that caliber/size combo for reliabilty and durability.

I thought the springs could be a problem too but this should not be the case on a new pistol. I'm assuming Kahr would have or should have checked them when he sent the pistol back the first time?

I have had a Khar mk9 for over 10 years and have never had a malfunction and it's crazy accurate for a short barrel / sight radius gun. It is carried daily as a carry gun and under a shirt as a backup and gets pretty dirty. I have shot both the 9mm and 40 on several occasions and while I'm a big fan of the .40 round, IMO not only is the 9mm much easier and comfortable to shoot, but the small trade in stopping power is worth having the extra round in the 9mm for the purpose of a sub-compact concealment weapon.

Sadly I must have got the stinker. I had a TP9 and a PM9 for the wife got super good deals on a store that was going out of business.

Loved the TP9, fit great shot great problem was the ejector would go flying out, sent it back, same problem, sent it back a third time, sold it to my brother who had the same problem and then he sold it after it got fixed.

The pm9 was flawless, great shooter, just the very few, new auto jams, but after the 300rnd break in, it ran without a hitch. I got rid of that one, due to my wife having a problem pulling the slide back and it just not fitting my hand very well, if it did, id still have it.

ON THE GOOD SIDE..The customer service was incredible, each time I sent the gun back, It was gone for less than 2 weeks, and got shorter everytime.

would I buy a new one, if my interests changed and I wanted a reasonably priced carry piece YEP, Like I said I got a stinker, they tried very hard to take care of it and make things right, stuff happens. My brother nor I lost money since I got it for little to nothing so all in all it worked out ok.

I have a PM45...nice gun. Carries easy, very accurate and reliable. I really thought when I first saw it that it would not be very pleasant to shoot, but it has a really tight recoil spring and that absorbs alot of the snap. I would buy another one.

My wife has a Lady K9 with tritium sights and I have owned two other K9's (one blue and one stainless) and all three have been flawless.
