killlight 250

That is absolutely untrue or the 250 would be 2.5 times as bright as the 100.

I am a dealer for these Kill lights and I know you can positively identify something at 200 yards with the XLR 250 and pick up eyes beyond that.

Ok, well I know that the 250 will throw a tighter beam furthur than the 100, and I know this as I was testing both last night.

I'll email Chad at EW and find out where the 100 and 250 designation comes from in the naming of the kill lights?

Black wolf, the 100 have more flood then the 250? Im thinking that 100 would make a good scanning light, as long as it isn't a big feild!

Hi CEC

The 100 seems to have a wider throw of light without as much concentration or tighter a beam furthur out.

The 250 has a smaller tighter beam out furthur and is good for punching thru the scrub like I was doing last night and illuminated things furthur away.

I was scanning with the 100 and it was working great.

They are both awesome lights and I'm very glad I went ahead and bought both.

Ok, the verdict is in.

This is from Chad from EW.

Hope he don't mind me quoting his response?

............................Yes, that is correct. The number is basically what we feel is The average max distance that we feel conident in guaranteeing our lights will do allthough they will go much further than that with certain colors and every light is a little bit different depending on how well it was focused when it left our office.

If you have anymore questions feel free to email me back.

Hi. I got one of your XRL100 gun mounted kill lights couple weeks back.

I was wondering what the 100 and 250 name designation stands for on the kill lights?

Does it stand for yardage the light is good out to?

Thanks

Chad also had this to say.

He didnt mind me posting his email either.

Great guy!

The answers and questions are in reverse order mind you

.........................No problem at all. The Kill Light XLR100 is also a combo flood and spot beam so you can see well pretty much all around with it and definitely my favorite. The XLR100 will shine a good solid beam about 15 yards wide at a distance of 35 yards while the 250 would be more like a little over 1 yard wide. Both lights have great spill and you can still see wider than these numbers very good but the bright focused part of the beam is the measurements that I just stated above. We made the 250 for long range so the main hot part of the beam has to be very tight to get the unbelievable distance that we have out of any good LED. It took hundreds of designs and R&D on the reflector in our 250 to get where it is today but it was worth it for sure. There are a lot of copycats showing up now that appear the same but the LED's, reflectors and other important aspects of our light are not there including our customer service and suppport.

Let me know if you have anymore questions and I will try and answer them the best I can.

Thanks Chad. That just solved a little dispute I and someone else was having on the pred masters board.

I posted your response if you don't mind.

Kind of like a straight from the horses mouth type of thing and the facts are known once and for all.

Anyways, thanks again and love the kill light!

Lit up a coon last night but let him walk as I didnt want to ruin my stand. Looking for bobcats before season ends.

Here's my 30-second dissertation based on as much research...

I will tell you this. My 250 and my 100 (EWT Kill lights) seem exactly the same when the lens/cone is removed. it's just a led shining real bright. As I screw the lens/con on, the light is "gathered/focused".
The 100 puts the light into a nice "fuzzy" ball about 1/5th the size of the halo (5' from ceiling 6'halo, 1'ball).
The 250 puts the light into a nice "tight) point about 1/8th the size of the halo (5' from ceiling 4'halo, 6"spot).
Note. the halo on the 100 is Very faint, all the light going to the ball.
the halo on the 250 is Very Bright.
Interestingly, if I put my finger across the lens of the 250, the Halo disappears, but the Spot remains. The Spot is a function of a Deep-Smooth cone collecting the perimeter light and aiming it at the center. The outer-halo is a product of the light straight out from the emitter.
The 100 has the Shallow/Dimpled reflector to allow a smoother/filled Ball shaped focus.
I just got the lights, I only have minimal "field" testing with them... I think they will be great. 100 on a head-band to scan, 250 for the ID/shot.
