Kimber 1911

With the election looking like it may go the wrong way I am wanting to look at getting a 1911. I have always thought that a Kimber would be a good way to go. But having just read a comment on another posting that the new Kimbers aren't what the older Kimbers were has me wondering. I have also seen this posted on their rifles. Are they truly of lesser quality? And what 1911 would you suggest?
On another note. Please everyone get out and vote Tuesday. And when a volunteer calls asking for your support on Tuesday remember they are just a concerned ordinary person like you or I wanting to help get out the vote.

I just ordered a CDP II Custom. I haven't gotten it yet but it should be here soon. My brother has two a CDP II and a Covert and his wife has a CDP II in a 9mm. They seem to really like em and haven't had any problems with them.

What is your budget for a 1911-type pistol?

The Kimber pistols with the "II" have additional trigger parts to make the design "more safe".

I have three of the Kimber pistols in .45acp and a Colt (.38 Super from 1948).

I have owned two Kimbers and I loved them both. Unfortunately I had to sell them for different reasons, but if things had been different I would have definately kept them. One was a basic Custom II the other was the more expensive Custom TLE II. I would recommend either. I never had a failure to feed or any other issue for that matter and collectively I put around 2,000 rounds through them.

I would not hesitate to buy one if I had the money.

Kimber is as good as any of the other factory production 1911's in my book, probably better than some.

Bought one two years ago. An excellent pistol. Would not get rid of it. No misfeeds, smokestacks, misfires, or anything. That is with factory and handloads. Get a Kimber.

Mine is a 24/7 carry, wonderful gun, Pro carry II stainless with nite sites, 45. I have owned many this is the best I ahve ever owned. I would love a Wilson though.

I wouldn't have a problem getting another Kimber. My Stainless Gold Match is very accurate and feeds and ejects Winchester white box ammo without a problem. Also bought the
.22 conversion kit and much to my surprise handles that well
too.

Have owned only one Kimber, a Classic Stainless; it is my 5th 1911 and the only one that has never had a hiccup, no mantter what it is fed. Extremely accurate as well. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend Kimber.

I agree with Bofire, I have a Pro Carry II, stainless for concealment. It has been the most reliable 1911 I have. Feeds great, no eject problems. Completely stock, no tune ups. Would not hesitate to buy another.

I have had three 1911, a Colt, a Para Ord, and a Kimber Pro Carry II. The Kimber has held it's own with the Colt and Para without exception. My Kimber has never failed to function, it eats everything from Gold Dots, to Winchester White Box to reloads and begs for more. The fit and finish is exceptional.

I agree they may not be the uber gun they were years ago. But the question you need to ask yourself is "Is there anything any better out there without going with a custom?"

Cant go wrong with a Kimber. Well made and most function superbly. If I was in the market for a 1911, the only other line I would seriously consider outside of the Kimber is the Springfield line up. The loaded Operator is one sweet 1911.

When I went looking for a 3" 1911 I wanted the Colt Defender but couldn't find one. Ended up with the Ultra Carry II by Kimber.

In fairness I've shot mostly ball ammo through it but it has been 100% thus far with that and the few rounds of JHP I've shot.

What's really impressed me though is how accurate this little pistol is. It will shot right with my old Colt Series 70.

So far I've been pretty impressed with Kimber.

Buying a Kimber means you need to get a Kimber Warrior. The Warrior has none of the new fangled safeties and is the closest thing you can get to a custom 45.

I have the Kimber Government TLE II Stainless and it is a dream to shoot and feeds everything I throw in it with no issues.
Cannot go wrong with the Kimber from my POV and I would not hesitate to buy another.
