the way it was explained to me is,,imagine having a 2-4 week old puppy,,then pick the puppy up by the scruff of the neck,,the yi yi sound it makes is a ki-yi,,i may be wrong but someone will hopefully explain it? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused1.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused1.gif

Ki-Yi sounds are nothing more than a distressed coyote sound. Just imagine the sound a coyote would make if he was kicked between the hind legs real good and you should have it down. If you have a dog you can slam his tail in the door and get a pretty good idea as well. DON'T TRY THAT, I WAS JUST KIDDING ARROUND. These are great sounds to use after you have just shot a coyote and are trying to get its mate to respond. Other coyotes will respond as well. It seems they are much like us in that when they hear a wreck they can't resist the urge to come see. It also can be very effective in getting a coyote to respond when you've struck out on the other sounds such as howls or rabbit sounds. Just another tool in the tool box so to speak. Most good open reed calls can reproduce these sounds very good with a little practice.
thanks guys, i wont be slamming the dogs tail in the door, unless the neighbor ladies chiwhawha thing comes around~then i might give it a shot!lol! hey guys great site, learned a lot of stuff here in the past couple of weeks!!! now has any one had any luck hunting if its rainy? it is supposed to rain here this weekend and i just got to go out!
