Lapua Brass

I realize it costs a bit more. But you really get good brass when you buy Lapua brass. I just picked up 300 pieces of the new 22-250 Lapua brass. Man that stuff was nice. I just finished loading 100 shells for my new Cooper 22-250. It is incredible how consistent it is when you compare it to other brass. It is fun to work with good products!! Tom.

Tom, I bought my first a while back for a couple of AI barrels I'm getting done.
The quality is unbelievable. I just chamferred the case mouths and primed it. About 6 of the case mouths were just barely dinged up and I ran them in the die just far enough for the expander ball to round them out.
I've got 500 more coming tomorrow for a couple of other calibers.

The free ammo box helps offset the cost.....a little.

I just bought 300 cases from Powder Valley for $62 a hundred. That was the "cheapest" I could find it. It is really great brass.

Powder Valley has great prices, but they were "out of stock" on all 3 that I needed.

Graf & Sons is another good source, and they have a good deal on shipping.

My kids got me some 308 brass as a gift.Good kids.It is really nice stuff.I don't know why for sure but it seems not a little better but a whole lot better.

Like most other things in life you get what you pay for.

Quality over quantity makes the difference.IMHO

I use .308, .223 and .22-250 Lapua brass, I don't even know how many thousands of pieces I have. I have to say it is the BEST brass on the market! I wish they still made it for the .300 win magnum, since they don't, I use RWS which seems to be pretty darn close.

I could not believe the price difference. Brass must have taken a real price increase. I bought mine from Powder Valley for $62. And when I looked at Midway the same brass was $110. Now that is a big difference. So I bought enough to last me a long time. Tom.

Lapua brass is outstanding. The only brass I've seen that compares to it favorably is RWS and some of the older IMI stuff that you can't find anymore........

Ok, so it seems a consensus that Lapua is better than average brass, but what about the average brass (Rem.,Win,etc.) users? What are we actually missing? Is it only beneficial for benchrest type shooting , or would a hunter be a be able to tell the difference? Thanks, Bob.

Nobody can tell the difference while hunting. Don't get caught up in the hype unless you benchrest or compete. If that is the case, then 100 cartridges will last a long, long time, provided you anneal and take care of it. I think their most appealing factor is the small primer and flash hole in BR cartridges.

Not sure what you guys are talking about. I bought 22-250 brass. The 22-250 is a good long range(500 to 600 yards) varmint cartridge. I want all the accuracy I can get for those type shots. So what kind of hunting are you guys talking about?? 100 yards in the woods?? Then you may be right about regular brass being accurate enough.

But honestly I have bought a good bit of new Winchester brass lately. and I can honestly say that it is going down hil in quality. I am getting alot of "cull" brass out of a Winchester bag.

The Lapua brass is about perfect right out of the box. Personally I like that. I don't like culling the other brass. And if you want to shoot a ground hog in the head at 500 yards then you better have a pretty accurate rifle?? Or at least I think you need one. Tom.

A hunter would be able to tell the difference if they dont prep and sort the win, rem, etc..... brass. I use win for my 6 rem to shoot at 600 yards target. I found that if I dont prep and sort the brass, just like lapua, it does not shoot accurately. The difference is when your sorting 200 pieces of brass with win you'll have many different piles, lapua not as many. For hunting we are talking about the difference of a hit or miss at 200 - 400, I think right.

Four years ago I ordered a 6.5-284 custom built. I also ordered 400 Lapua bullets from Sinclair. They were back ordered and was some time before delievery was made. In the interum I used Win .284 necked to 6.5. When the Lapua's arrived each box of 100 contained 99, at that time the price was under $70/ box plus freight. I complained to Sinclair and received a box of 100 free for my trouble, it also contained 99. I have since ordered Lapua for my 22-250 and the plastic boxs had the count right.
