I've been thinking about purchasing a LAR Grizzly 50 Cal Single Shot. I've got one spotted for $1500 used. Does anyone know of how far out you can accurately and realisticly shoot with this rifle? Any comments on this rifle? I do realize the bullets are like $2 each.

They are not very accurate, I believe they are limited to about 100 yards and it helps if the barn has a very large side.

When ya get one, send it to me for some testing, I already have the barn. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Trust me, you'll get tired from walking out to change the targets, they shoot a very loooong ways out. A man size target at 1000 yards is, shall we say, a walk in the park once you get it dialed in.

The Lar is a poor choice for the 50BMG.

It's such a nice long range cartridge, it deserves better.

I have an AR-50, and love it. So far I have used it at 1900 meters to hammer large VW sized boulders.

The scope adjustments will take it to 2700 meters... if I can find the space.

I hear you on the AR-50, it is one of 2 guns I want in the near future. I want one real bad. The other gun is an M1A....JOHN

It's a nightmare...

The one place that I can shoot 1900 mtrs is across a public water supply into an old abandoned quarry on the side of a mountain that is inaccesable to the public - we have good view of the boulder pile, and can pick them as targets.

There was a group that started 50-BMG cal matches at Ft. Drum, NY. using cardboard tanks at up to 2700 meters, and the first two matches went well, until 9/11, and the fort has been closed to the public ever since.

I shoot handloads of API, Blues, and M-48's.

Ya'll need to bring them out here to Ks and do some prairie doggin with me. LOL Let me bring my video camera that would be awesome!!

You betcha...
The summer of '07, I'm taking my son on the road for a month of dog and 'yote shooting.
You ain't seen nothing 'til you've watched a 50cal M-48 arc across the sky with it's tail on fire like a road flare, and the ball of flame and smoke when it hits.
